Tell Congress to pass the Automatic Voter Registration Act

Voting rights are under attack. Donald Trump and extremist right-wing Republicans relentlessly perpetuate the myth of voter fraud to cast doubt on the electoral process and lay the groundwork for laws that suppress the vote. In states across the country, Republicans are doubling down on their efforts to steal elections by enacting discriminatory photo ID laws, cutting back early voting, eliminating polling locations and doing anything else they can think of to make it harder for people to vote.

The 2018 elections will be a massive opportunity to reject Republican extremism and stand up for progressive values. We have to do everything we can to make sure that as many people as possible are able to participate.

The Automatic Voter Registration Act would create a pathway to voting for up to 50 million new voters1 – but it won’t gain traction in Congress without grassroots support. Can you help put pressure on Congress to act?

Tell Congress: Pass the Automatic Voter Registration Act.

With Trump in the White House and extremist Republicans trying to advance their dangerous agenda, we need to make sure that as many of people as possible register and everyone’s vote counts, especially this year. The Automatic Voter Registration Act would expand automatic voter registration nationwide by requiring states to automatically register eligible voters when they interact with certain state and federal agencies. Everyone would have the chance to opt out, and no one would be registered against their will.

Courts in North Carolina, Wisconsin and Kansas have blocked Republican voter suppression laws,2 but Trump is not going to give up trying to rig the system for his Party’s benefit. We have to do everything we can to block his extreme agenda and stop Republicans from passing laws that keep people from voting. And we also have to work hard to pass good laws that help expand registration and bring more people to the polls.

Eight states have already passed automatic voter registration.3 It is time for Congress to act to make sure that voters in every state have the chance to get registered. The Automatic Voter Registration Act will eliminate many of the barriers that make it harder for people to register and help ensure that we truly have a representative democracy.

Can you add your voice today to tell Congress to pass the Automatic Voter Registration Act?

Thanks for everything you do to protect the right to vote.
