CREDO Mobile Action is a network of activists utilizing the power, convenience and speed of mobile phones to make social change. With a progressive president in the White House and progressive majorities in both the House and Senate, we may think our work is going to be easy. But rightwing obstructionists are gearing up to stop progress in its tracks, and we have to be prepared to fight back.

There will be some big, high-profile floor fights, but a vast majority of the votes that could undermine President Obama's agenda will take place at the committee and subcommittee level. That's where CREDO Mobile Activists come in. Here's how the process will work:

1. Here at CREDO, we'll hear from one of our friends in Washington that a crucial committee vote is coming up - say, on an amendment that provides a sweetheart deal for a big oil company.
2. If your representative or senator sits on the committee in question, we'll text you and ask you to call a toll-free number to learn more about the vote.
3. Once you call the toll-free number, you'll hear recorded talking points to tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming vote and how your representative or senator should be voting on it.
4. After you've listened to the talking points as many times as you like, all you have to do is press a button, and we'll patch you through to the Congressional switchboard, free of charge.

Since these actions will generally target committees and subcommittees, you'll probably only get a text from us very rarely - but when you do, you'll know that taking action will make a tremendous difference on some of the most important legislation we'll see this year.
