Fight for clean energy in Colorado

Late Monday evening, the Colorado Senate narrowly passed a bill (SB 13-252) that would more than double the amount of clean energy that Colorado’s rural cooperative electric associations provide to customers by 2020.1

This is a crucial opportunity to give Colorado’s economy a boost and reduce the state’s reliance on dirty fossil fuels, but conservative groups like the Craig Chamber of Commerce are ramping up a misinformation campaign to confuse Colorado residents and defeat the bill.2

The Colorado House will be voting soon, and the vote is expected to be very close, so we need to make sure lawmakers know Coloradans support clean energy.

Tell the Colorado House: Vote YES for more clean energy in Colorado.

Groups opposed to clean energy in Colorado, like the Craig Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, are using wildly inflated cost estimates to try to scare legislators into voting against improving Colorado’s clean energy laws.

But the fact is, investing in clean sources of energy like wind power will boost Colorado’s economy and reduce dangerous pollutants like carbon dioxide at the same time – a win-win scenario for the state.

Given the deadly wildfires Colorado residents have experienced recently, the need to reduce climate pollution by transitioning to clean sources of energy couldn’t be more apparent.

But dirty energy companies and conservative groups are working to ensure that Colorado remains hooked on fossil fuels.

With strong grassroots activism, we can make sure the Colorado House passes SB 13-252 and continues working to fight climate change and transition to clean sources of energy.

Tell the Colorado House: Vote YES for more clean energy in Colorado.
