Tell the FCC to update its cellphone emission standards

The FCC has not updated its cellphone emission standards since 1997. The research on the effects of cellphone radiofrequency("RF") emissions remains inconclusive, and governmental agencies charged with regulating industry should be using up-to-date information.

Under the Bush Administration, the FCC took no steps to investigate or develop new standards reflecting the massive changes in technology seen in the telecom industry over the last decade. And the data it did have was - and remains - hidden within an FCC website that's impossible for the average consumer to navigate. Our hope is that the newly-appointed FCC Chairman will be more proactive in staying technologically current and consumer-friendly.

Urge FCC Chairman Genachowski to open a proceeding to modernize ("RF") standards for cellphones, and to make handset ratings and related information easily accessible to the public.
